What it is:

It involves eating certain seeds on certain days and others on other days.

Which seeds does it involve:

1) Sunflower

2) Sesame

3) Flax

4) Pumpkin

What it does:

Balances estrogen in the first half of the menstrual cycle and progesterone in the second half.

Benefits:

1) Balances hormones

2) Regulates periods

3) Improves thyroid function

4) Helps to treat PCOD/PCOS

5) Boosts fertility

6) Eases symptoms of menopause

From a cosmetic/aesthetic point of view, it,

1) Reduces acne

2) Improves hair health

3) ‘De-puffs’ through decreasing water retention in the body

How to seed-cycle:

Eat 1 tablespoon each of flax seeds and pumpkin seeds, daily, from day 1 of your periods to day 13-14.

Eat 1 tablespoon each of sunflower seeds and sesame seeds, daily, from day 15 onwards until you get your periods again.

1 tablespoon is about 15 grams.

It may take a few months to see any noticeable changes but it is definitely worth a try, especially since you have nothing to lose by trying it except good health and vitality. If you suffer from hormonal acne or an imbalance in skin oil production, it is a must try for you. You can eat the seeds raw, grind them up and sprinkle them over your foods or add them to your smoothie. Whatever works for you, but make sure you incorporate them somewhere in your diet.
